Roman
villa of the imperial age
The territory of the
present Municipality of Colfelice was crossed, in the Roman age, by
the Via Latina (Latin Road), by the "Pedemontana" Road,
connecting Arpinum and Aquinum, and by the Vitularia Road, which
linked the two roads passing along the present Rio Proibito.
In 1976 some remains
of a large Roman villa were found along the "Pedemontana",
in a place called Ara Murata.

Earthenware
ponds along the Rio Sottile
A productive
settlement dating back to the Republican Age was found in 1997 in
the area of Camponi (in a tableland overlooking the Rivulet Rio
Sottile), during the excavations for the construction of the
high speed railway line between Rome and Naples.
The archaeologists
have judged particularly interesting some ponds covered with
earthenware and the crescent-shaped inside hollow with a central
circular depression.
